About Panda Express
Panda Express, located at 20290 CA-18, Apple Valley, CA 92307, United States, is a prominent fast-food chain specializing in Chinese cuisine. As part of the broader Panda Restaurant Group, it has evolved from humble beginnings to become a household name across the globe. The journey of Panda Express began in the early 1980s, when Andrew Cherng, along with his wife Peggy Cherng, decided to expand their culinary footprint beyond their sit-down restaurants, the Panda Inn chain.
The first Panda Express was opened in 1983 at the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, California, marking a significant shift towards quick-service dining. This strategic move was facilitated by real estate developers Dan and Terry Donahue, who saw potential in the concept of fast, affordable Chinese food. The Cherngs’ vision was to create a menu that would appeal to a wide audience, blending traditional Chinese flavors with modern convenience.
Panda Express is renowned for its diverse menu, which includes popular dishes like Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and Beijing Beef. These items have become staples of American-Chinese cuisine, often replicated in other restaurants across the country. The chain’s success can be attributed to its ability to balance traditional flavors with health-conscious options, catering to a broad range of dietary preferences.
As a Chinese restaurant, Panda Express offers a variety of dishes that reflect the rich culinary heritage of China, adapted to suit local tastes. It also operates as an Asian restaurant, incorporating elements from broader Asian cuisine into its offerings. Beyond its dine-in services, Panda Express functions as a caterer, providing large-scale food services for events and gatherings. Additionally, it serves as a Chinese noodle restaurant, offering noodle-based dishes that are both authentic and innovative. For those seeking convenience, Panda Express operates as a Chinese takeaway and delivery Chinese restaurant, allowing customers to enjoy their meals from the comfort of their own homes.
The restaurant’s fast-food model is complemented by its role as a fast food restaurant and takeout restaurant, making it a convenient option for busy lifestyles. Furthermore, Panda Express is classified as a Wok restaurant, highlighting its use of traditional wok cooking techniques to prepare dishes quickly and efficiently.
Panda Express can be reached at +1 760-247-9499 for inquiries or to place orders. The restaurant’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has been a key factor in its success, with over 2,300 locations worldwide. This expansion is a testament to the Cherngs’ innovative approach to the fast-food industry, combining technology, wellness programs for staff, and a focus on fresh ingredients to create a unique dining experience.
The story of Panda Express is deeply intertwined with the American dream, as Andrew Cherng’s journey from immigrating to the U.S. in 1966 to building a culinary empire reflects the entrepreneurial spirit that defines many successful businesses. The Cherngs’ early adoption of technology and data analysis helped streamline operations, allowing Panda Express to scale efficiently while maintaining its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
In addition to its culinary offerings, Panda Express has also been involved in community outreach through initiatives like Panda Cares, established in 1999. This philanthropic arm focuses on supporting children’s health and education, reflecting the company’s commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.
Today, Panda Express remains a leader in the fast-food industry, known for its iconic dishes and its role in popularizing Chinese cuisine globally. Its presence in Apple Valley, California, serves as a testament to its widespread appeal and enduring success in the competitive fast-food market.

The drive-through had many cars not moving for 20 minutes. I went inside and asked about it and was ignored, so three cars behind me, plus me left.

Tried to buy dinner on 04/01/2026. I didn't have exact change in the drive through and I would have to round up or donate extra. They lost a $14.00 sale over $0.03. I went 5 minutes down the road and got 1/4 more for $3.00 less from another Chinese restaurant. Lost a sale and left a bad taste in a customer's mouth. Good job.

This used to be my favorite place to eat. But sadly the quality has dropped drastically. I went to the drive through and no one was there. The place was practically empty. However, it took a long time for someone to acknowledge me and take my order. I was then told that they were just waiting on the honey walnut shrimp to be cooked fresh. However, when I got home I noticed the food was old and cold including the honey walnut shrimp, so I was lied to. It was extremely soggy and clearly not fresh. They also mix fresh food with old spoiled food. Disgusting and extremely disappointing. Go elsewhere.

You have GOT to be kidding me. THIS is what we are calling a full serving now? It was definitely not an accident, as both containers were packed the exact same way. This is not what I paid for. If I had seen this while I was still at the store, I would have complained in person, but because I had the misfortune of going through the drive-through (and waiting almost half an hour even though there was only one person ahead of me) I did not see it until I got home.
